Membership is free. Money should never decide whether someone gets to belong, or whether they get to make bad art.
we run on generosity.
Bad Art Club relies on people who believe that creativity is for everyone, especially those who need it most. Our mission is sustained by our patrons, and every dollar goes directly to the work.
where your money goes
Art is medicine for people in recovery.
People in the early stages of addiction recovery are rediscovering their sense of self and learning healthier ways to cope with life's challenges. Bad Art Club gives them the opportunity to do both.
Our healing arts workshops meet people where they are. There is no experience required and no milestones to achieve, just a blank canvas, some paint, facilitators who care, and a room full of people making bad art together.
When you become a patron, you're sponsoring a seat at the table for someone who couldn't otherwise be there. Full scholarships go to BIIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Immigrant, and People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ individuals in recovery, funded entirely by people like you.
what your contribution actually does
Every dollar counts.

One workshop. One person in recovery.
Covers the full cost of one healing arts session — supplies, facilitation, space — for a person moving through early recovery. $44. One seat at the table.
Give $44 →$55

At $55 a month, we can also send them home with brushes, paint, and paper to keep creating between sessions. A lot of the healing happens in the quiet, between workshops.

Independent Arts & Media is a San Francisco nonprofit that, since 2000, has stewarded and empowered independent art and media projects that foster community, civic participation, cultural engagement, and free expression. To date they've supported hundreds of affiliate projects that have collectively raised more than $30 million.
Bad Art Club is proudly one of those affiliates. Operating under IAM's 501(c)(3) nonprofit status means your donations to Bad Art Club are tax-deductible, and we're eligible for grants, funding, and sponsorships that aren't available to unincorporated groups. That means every contribution goes further in keeping our events radically accessible.
